It’s clear that the concept of access to care for pets and other animals needs a fresh dialogue, a new definition, and real solutions.
Traditionally access to care referred to underserved communities unable to access care because of geography, economics, or other barriers that prevented them from walking in the door.
But now we have people willing and able to show up and they still can’t get care because we aren’t available. And that is a problem.
The answer? Well, it just might be telehealth.
Join PetsApp's Thom Jenkins and VVCA's Ali McIntyre as they dig in to how virtual veterinary care is fixing the access to care issue in America.
Speaker - Ali McIntyre
As Executive Director of the VVCA, Ali has overall strategic and operational responsibility for the association, management of the Board of Directors, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. She is passionate about the future of digital medicine and how telehealth in veterinary medicine can help bridge the gaps in care across the profession.
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Ali graduated from Temple University with a degree in Communications/Public Relations. She also holds a Certificate in Litigation/Paralegal studies from The Philadelphia Institute. In 1999 Ali moved to the west coast and found her niche in intellectual property litigation, first at Latham & Watkins in their Menlo Park, California office and then at Affymetrix, Inc., as their in-house senior litigation paralegal.
In 2007, she joined a law firm in Portland, Oregon where she began working with Mark Cushing. After a 5-year hiatus to raise her twin boys, Ali was thrilled to team up with Mark again at the Animal Policy Group. She and her husband, Tim, have 4 boys between them, a veteran pug named Pearl and an energetic labradoodle named Fitzgerald.
